Getting Ahead running on your phone.
Because Ahead is medical-adjacent safety software that must wake you in your sleep, Android requires a few one-time permissions so OEM battery savers don't silence your alerts.
Install the APK (Sideloading)
Download the Ahead APK file onto your Android device. When prompted, tap "Allow from this source" in your browser or file manager settings to complete installation.
Grant Health Connect Permissions
Open Ahead and tap "Allow all" when the Health Connect permission dialog appears. Make sure both Blood Glucose (Read) and Background Data Access are enabled so readings continue while your phone is locked.
Disable Battery Optimizations (Critical)
Samsung, Xiaomi, and Pixel devices aggressively kill background services to save 1% battery. In Ahead's setup wizard, tap "Grant Exemption" to mark Ahead as Unrestricted in Android Battery Settings.
Pair Transmitter (Dexcom G7 Direct BLE)
Enter your 12-digit Transmitter Serial Number and 4-digit pairing PIN found on your applicator box. Ahead will complete the EC-JPAKE handshake within 3 to 10 seconds.
